We were at Red Deer’s first ever nerd expo!

Mount Crom Armouries vendor booth at Central Alberta Nerd Expo 2026

It’s about time that Red Deer gets its own nerd and comic convention. Calgary and Edmonton has had it for years, but Red Deer has yet to have one on their own. Kurtis Chick, the founder of CHICKLETS’, a local book store in Red Deer, Alberta, has finally took this approach and started Central Alberta Nerd Expo 2026, that was held in Cenovus Learning Commons in Red Deer Polytechnic Campus.

Amongst the 30+ vendor booths that have attended the convention, we, Mount Crom Armouries, are one of them, and we are proud to be part of Red Deer’s first comic/nerd/cosplay convention!

Attendees and Medieval Cosplayers checking out handforged swords made and forged by Mount Crom Armouries

Mount Crom Armouries’ handforged swords being sold at their booth at Central Alberta Nerd Expo 2026

Lots of cosplayers and attendees showed up! Lots of people loved our handforged medieval items, lots of people learned about us, and we were thrilled on how many of these were sold in the whole weekend! For such a first event on this small city, this event turned out to be great and filled with like-minded people, as it seems like we have needed this for a long time! We do hope that this amazing local event will continue annually for years to come.

Once again, thank you Kurtis Chick for arranging and hosting this amazing event. Thank you for giving us the opportunity to be a vendor during this event, and we’ll look forward for the next one! Visit nerdexpo.ca for more information for their next event this coming October!

Also, if you’re in the market for custom, locally forged armour pieces or medival equipment for your LARPing, Cosplaying, and even for your Burhurt needs, you’ve come to the right place, and we can do them for you! Hit us up on our contact page and share us your ideas you want us to bring in real life!
